A Bel Air man has been detained by law enforcement following allegations of child pornography possession and distribution. Dominic J. Lafrancesca, 27, faces 11 counts in the wake of a probe spurred by a tip to the Harford County Child Advocacy Center. According to details released by the Harford County Sheriff's Office, Lafrancesca was arrested after detectives received a tip earlier this year about suspicious online activity involving the downloading of explicit images of children.
Investigators pinpointed Lafrancesca as the suspect in the unlawful activity. The search and seizure warrants were executed on Sunday, August 18 leading to Lafrancesca's arrest at his residence. At the time of his detainment, he was an elementary school music teacher at George D. Lisby Elementary School and an employee of the Harford County Public Schools. The suspect has allegedly admitted to the routine downloading of imagery that, by Maryland law, is viewed as child pornography, and also to sharing this disturbing content online with other adults.
Following a bail hearing the next day, the accused was ordered to be held without bail at the Harford County Detention Center. The investigation spearheaded by the Harford County Child Advocacy Center is ongoing.
The Sheriff's Office is now reaching out to the public for additional help. Any individual who suspects they might have fallen victim to these crimes, or who may possess information about the case, is implored to contact Detective Reynolds at the Harford County Child Advocacy Center at 443-409-3502.
