A Belmont man's quick action and collaboration with local authorities led to the safe capture of a horse that had found its way onto Interstate 85. According to the QC News, Efrain Garcia played a pivotal role in assisting the Belmont Police Department with corralling the equine escapee on Saturday afternoon.
The horse, identified as Josie, evidently took a "leisurely" stroll to the highway, creating a unique situation for both drivers and law enforcement alike. The Belmont Police Department extended its gratitude to Mr. Garcia, saying, "We could not have done this without his help!!" This statement was mirrored in a WBTV report.
The incident caught the attention of social media as well, with the Belmont Police Department taking to Facebook to express thanks. In their post, the horse's adventure was described with a hint of Western flair, playing on the theme of a Saturday stroll turned Wild West escapade. They further acknowledged Garcia's critical help, posting, "YEEE-HAW! We would like to thank the kind alert citizen, Efrain Garcia, who assisted our officers in capturing Josie during her leisurely Saturday stroll to I 85 NB." The post from the Belmont Police Department Facebook page included invitations to Like & Share, connecting with various community groups such as the City of Belmont-Government and Belmont Citizens Police Academy Alumni Association.
After what could potentially have been a dangerous interruption for Saturday traffic, the incident has been settled safely, and Josie is back home. Josie's safe return serves as a testament to the positive outcomes when community and law enforcement work hand in hand.
