In an early Monday incident, a bicyclist has tragically succumbed to injuries after a hit-and-run collision in northeast Columbus. The Franklin County Sheriff's Office reported that the accident happened along State Route 3 at the Innis Road intersection. ABC6 noted that the unknown vehicle fled the scene after hitting the cyclist who was attempting to cross the road.
The Sheriff's Office added that the cyclist was rushed to Riverside Methodist Hospital but unfortunately did not survive. The incident occurred around 12:45 a.m. and involved a southbound vehicle on State Route 3, also known as Westerville Road, as detailed by NBC4i. Authorities are now actively searching for details that could lead to the identification of the driver responsible for the fatality.
State Route 3 was the scene of the heartbreaking loss, which fell within the jurisdiction of Mifflin Township. According to WBNS, the authorities have not yet released a description of the suspect vehicle, which was last observed continuing southbound from the crash site. The identity of the victim has also not been disclosed pending notification of next of kin.
