Tragedy struck once again at Tempe Town Lake where recovery crews have located the body of an individual who had reportedly gone underwater the previous evening and failed to resurface, according to FOX 10 Phoenix. Eyewitness accounts prompted a 911 call around 9:30 p.m. on Wednesday, after which Tempe Police and firefighters initiated a search operation, yet the person remained missing through the night, despite continued efforts by law enforcement boats.
Search efforts persisted into the early morning with the addition of underwater drones, leading to the discovery of a body in the water, Tempe fire officials disclosed to 12News. Despite ongoing investigations, the identity of the individual has not been made public. Swimming has been prohibited in Tempe Town Lake due to the presence of dangerous currents.
Firefighters who resumed the search on the morning of August 15, between 8 and 9 a.m., ultimately brought the search to its somber conclusion upon the retrieval of the body, adding to the year's grim tally of lives claimed by the deceptive calm of Tempe Town Lake's water, as per 12News.
