
A Boston man was arrested last night on suspicion of drug distribution in the Downtown area. Jaden Mathieu, 21, is facing charges following an encounter with police officers patrolling near Summer Street and Chauncy Street. According to the Boston Police Department report, officers noted a group of individuals and saw that one of them, later identified as Mathieu, had a large folding knife in his possession.
The report further details that around 9:30 PM, officers proceeded to safely approach the suspect. They were able to quickly stop and handcuff Mathieu, after which they conducted a pat frisk. During the search, officers allege to have found an object they suspected to be crack cocaine. They also retrieved about $328 in US currency and ten oxycodone tablets from Mathieu's fanny pack. Subsequently, police arrested and charged Mathieu with two counts of possession with intent to distribute Class B substances and carrying a dangerous weapon.
Mathieu's arraignment is scheduled to take place in the Boston Municipal Court. Moreover, the case continues to highlight ongoing issues concerning drug distribution within the city limits.
