Last night's calm was shattered on Massachusetts Avenue when Boston police apprehended a suspect following a double stabbing incident. Officials said they received an emergency call at approximately 9:12 p.m. yesterday, leading them to 1003 Massachusetts Avenue, where the violent episode unfolded before the eyes of the South Boston community.
The first officers to arrive at the scene, members of District C-6 (South Boston), found a startling tableau: one man was holding down another, who was armed with a knife, this according to Boston Police Department's statement. Police quickly subdued and disarmed the armed individual, putting him in handcuffs amid the chaotic surroundings.
The scene took a grimmer turn as police discovered two male victims with stab wounds; Boston EMS promptly provided medical attention. One victim faced life-threatening injuries while the other experienced non-life-threatening injuries, both promptly transported to local hospitals for further treatment—this severity of injuries led to Homicide Detectives being roped into the case.
The arrest was carried out without further incident, and later, after an in-depth investigation, the suspect was identified by the authorities as Conrad Burnette, 62, of Milton. He now faces serious criminal charges including Two Counts of Assault and Battery with a Dangerous Weapon, the arrest detailed in the official police report. Moreover, detectives managed to recover two knives at the crime scene which are likely to play a key role as evidence in the upcoming arraignment at Roxbury District Court.
