In response to the surging popularity of e-bikes amongst teens and corresponding safety concerns, Boulder County has introduced a campaign titled "You Have the Power/Tienes el Poder." This initiative is a collaborative effort involving a slew of local partners, schools, and families. Those interested can access the campaign's resources on the Boulder County Youth Transportation website. Meanwhile, the Mobility for All program is gearing up to launch its Driver Recognition Campaign on social media, celebrating local "Mobility Heroes" who've made substantial impacts on community transit, as noted by Boulder County.
The Regional Transportation District (RTD) marked its 60th anniversary with a mixtape celebration commemorating civil rights achievements. An event, which featured music, poetry, and speeches, took place on July 20 at the Studio Loft and was a nod to the past to continue the social justice journey. The RTD Civil Rights Division, with support from organizations like the Denver NAACP and ACLU Colorado, facilitated the celebration. The Mobility and Access Coalition underlines the importance of this, highlighting ongoing efforts for equity and justice in transportation.
For those using mobility aids, a new opportunity to contribute to enhancing accessibility has arisen. The University of Washington is conducting a survey that aims to gather insights on the barriers encountered by individuals using various mobility devices. A $10 incentive is being proffered for qualifying participants who complete the survey, which can be found through a link in the newsletter. In addition, a call for input is out regarding the Town of Nederland's Multimodal Transportation Plan (MTP), which is presently undergoing refinements to better serve the community's transit needs.
Lastly, veterans in the Boulder County area can look forward to the upcoming Veterans Stand Down & Resource Fair scheduled for October 17 at the American Legion Post 32 in Longmont.
