A recent crash in Crofton has claimed the life of a 69-year-old man from Bowie, Maryland. The Anne Arundel County Police Department reported that on August 20 at around 6:35 a.m., officers from the Western District were dispatched to the scene of a single-vehicle accident at Priest Bridge Road by Defense Highway. According to the police press release, the vehicle involved in the accident was a 2017 Ford Transit 250 van.
The vehicle, under unknown circumstances, veered off the road and struck a tree. The driver, identified as Winston Riley, suffered fatal injuries as a result of the collision. Following the incident, personnel from the Anne Arundel County Fire Department responded promptly, transporting Riley to the Baltimore Washington Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead.
The Traffic Safety Section is currently investigating the unfortunate event to ascertain the reasons behind the van leaving the roadway, as details surrounding the cause of the accident remain unclear.
