A Bristol Borough man has been sentenced to 15-30 years in state prison for the third-degree murder of his infant son. Tyler Sullivan, 31, received his sentence yesterday from Common Pleas Judge Gary B. Gilman, after pleading guilty earlier in May to the charges which also included endangering the welfare of a child, the official Bucks County website reports.
As part of Sullivan’s sentencing, Judge Gilman has also mandated that Sullivan undergo mental health treatment. Impact statements from the victim's family highlighted the profound grief and ongoing trauma the child's mother and aunt are enduring. The sentencing hearing, held yesterday, conveyed their loss through words echoed in an ostensibly unbearable silence.
The baby’s mother's impact statement, which she didn't deliver in person due to the trauma she continues to suffer, lamented the life her son will never get to live. "My baby deserved to live a long, happy, wonderful life," she said, capturing a grief that was both personal and profound, as detailed by the official Bucks County website.
