As reported by NBC Boston, the house on Hillcrest Avenue became the center of attention around 3 p.m. when firefighters arrived to find the blaze had already advanced from the exterior into the interior, reaching the second floor and attic.
Authorities have noted that the fire initiated outside the house before it traveled inward, yet the cause of this incident is still under investigation. The NBC Boston reported that all occupants managed to evacuate safely, and the Brockton Fire Department had the fire under control within approximately 45 minutes. "This is typically a working fire for us, [or] maybe a second alarm,” Brockton Fire Deputy Chief Jeffrey Marchetti said. “However, due the heat and the fatigue that can set in… we needed extra crews," as Boston 25 News reports.
