A tragic hit-and-run incident claimed the life of a 29-year-old Brockton resident in Fairhaven on Saturday night. Boston 25 News reports that the victim, identified as Alexis Alvarez, was struck by a Chevy Silverado truck while riding a moped on Main Street near Riverside Cemetery and the Interstate 195 overpass at approximately 7:11 p.m.
Despite the efforts of emergency services, Alvarez succumbed to their injuries following the crash. According to WCVB, after being rushed to St. Luke’s Hospital for treatment, Alvarez was pronounced dead. The driver responsible for Alvarez’s untimely death left the scene before police arrived, leaving investigators to appeal to the public for assistance, the cause of the incident, still remains under investigation.
The Fairhaven Police Department, alongside the State Police Crime Prevention and Control Unit and the Bristol County District Attorney’s Office, are currently investigating the circumstances of the collision.
