The City of Brooklyn Park has secured a grant aimed at ensuring kids can safely tread their path to school. Honing in on the sidewalks, the city has received a Safe Routes to School grant from the Minnesota Department of Transportation. This allowance will enable the addition of five sidewalk segments near Park Brook Elementary School in the Park Brook neighborhood, according to the City of Brooklyn Park.

Set to boost the security for those commuting on foot or bike to and from the educational institution, the project is well-aligned with the city’s Pedestrian and Bike Plan from 2015, the Safe Routes to School Plan of 2022, and the Blue Line Extension LRT Station Area Master Plans. All renditions of plans have shared roots in extensive community engagement.

Officials will be present to field queries during the Osseo School District Open House at Park Brook Elementary School on August 28 between 4:30 PM and 6:00 PM, as per an announcement reported by the City of Brooklyn Park.
