The Buckeye Fire Medical Rescue Department has leveled up its game by achieving the internationally recognized Accredited Agency status by the Commission on Fire Accreditation International (CFAI), a milestone that positions Buckeye as the 15th accredited department within Arizona's boundaries.
The local fire department underwent a scrupulous, all-encompassing self-assessment, ticking off a demanding checklist that probes into every conceivable facet of an emergency service entity, from reviewing HR and operations policies to thoroughly evaluating their equipment, and sufficient training.
According to the official announcement, the CFAI sends out a peer assessment team to scrutinize the self-assessment's accuracy and adherence to standards, offering objective insights and recommendations that the BFMRD is already integrating into its strategic initiatives, a process which, according to Fire Chief Jake Rhoades, "demonstrates the commitment of the agency to provide the highest quality of service to our community."
Rhoades further emphasized the value of the accreditation, stating, "We have also been able to use the Commission on Fire Accreditation International’s process as a proactive mechanism to plan for the future of this agency and locate areas where we can improve on the quality of the services we provided," as detailed by the official announcement.
