The City of Carrollton added a new feather in its cap, being recognized by the International Economic Development Council (IEDC) with the 2024 Excellence in Economic Development Bronze Award. This prestigious nod comes in honor of the city's efforts to innovate and bolster its local economy, especially for projects that serve populations ranging from 25,000 to 200,000.
According to the City of Carrollton, IEDC President and CEO Nathan Ohle commended Carrollton, saying, "The City of Carrollton is setting the standard of excellence for economic development with its LYV Broadway Downtown Mixed-Use Multifamily Catalyst For Entrepreneurs project." The LYV Broadway project stands as a beacon of the city's forward-thinking economic strategies, coupling commercial expansion with residential opportunities. Situated at the south end of Carrollton's Historic Downtown, the venture has achieved a sustained 100% occupancy since its completion in 2021, with a notable mention that four of the sub-tenants are minority-owned businesses.
With such developments, Carrollton cements its status as a nurturing ground for entrepreneurs and small businesses. The LYV Broadway project features six leasable live/work units, facilitating a blend of residential and professional spaces conducive to growing businesses. As noted by Carrollton Development Services Manager Josh Giles, this public/private partnership extends beyond mere infrastructure; it fosters community and paves the way for sustainable economic growth.
The IEDC annually scours the landscape for entities and initiatives that have irrefutably contributed to economic development. Carrollton's award, highlighted by IEDC's Excellence in Economic Development Awards Advisory Committee Chair Kevin Kramer, underlines the city's unwavering dedication. Kramer pointed out, as per the City of Carrollton, "These exceptional projects showcase remarkable dedication and ingenuity within the field," emphasizing that the City of Carrollton’s contributions will leave a lasting impact and demonstrate its commitment to creating positive change for its residents.

Executive Director of Development Ravi Shah noted the city's ongoing initiatives, stating, as cited by the City of Carrollton, “Carrollton continues to capitalize on innovative partnerships to promote Downtown Carrollton as a premier historic, mixed-use district to uphold its reputation as a place where entrepreneurs and small businesses thrive”.
