Ely Reyes, who spearheaded the city's police force since 2019, steps up as the new public safety director. Reyes' track record as police chief included broadening community engagement and, has worked towards maintaining Cedar Hill's safe-city reputation.
Joining the leadership shift is Stacey Graves, who will manage the city's development services. With over a quarter century of experience, Graves' intimate knowledge of Cedar Hill's community, and civic structure equips her well for overseeing public works, capital improvement initiatives, and ongoing neighborhood services and code enforcement projects. According to the Cedar Hill Police Department, the transition to these new roles was welcomed on August 8th.
Melissa Valadez-Cummings, the City Manager of Cedar Hill, vocalized her confidence in the new appointments. "Ely and Stacey have proven track records of professionalism and servant leadership in Cedar Hill," Valadez-Cummings expressed her optimism for the future impact Reyes and Graves will deliver in their new capacities, as per the Cedar Hill Police Department.
