
A tragic incident took place in Charlotte's Central Division last Friday, where a pedestrian was found deceased near railroad tracks. Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department officers discovered 26-year-old Midaina Marrero unresponsive next to the tracks west of the 600 block of W Summit Avenue, after responding to a call at approximately 9:18 a.m. Detectives, alongside the homicide unit and medical examiner's office, are now thoroughly investigating the circumstances that led to this fatal event.
The early findings of the investigation, which were reported by the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department, suggest that Marrero may have been walking along the railroad tracks when she was struck by a train. The scene was processed by members of Crime Scene Search who were tasked to collect essential physical evidence that could shed light on this incident.
The police department has confirmed that Ms. Marrero’s next of kin have been duly notified. As the community grapples with this sudden tragedy, authorities are keeping a careful watch on the investigation's progress, ensuring that the facts leading up to Ms. Marrero's death are methodically unraveled.
