
A tragic incident occurred in Charlotte last Friday when 36-year-old Midaina Marrero was hit and killed by a train while walking on the tracks. According to WCCB Charlotte, the accident happened around 9:15 a.m. near West Summit Avenue and South Clarkson Street.
The Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department responded to the incident to find Marrero unresponsive, by the tracks. Despite immediate attention, she was pronounced dead at the scene, a confirmation which, has since been reported by QC News.
Initial investigations by the authorities suggest that Marrero's presence on the tracks was the cause of the deadly encounter. Officials have not released further information on what might have led to her being on the railroad tracks at the time. The case is ongoing, as investigators work to piece together the circumstances leading up to the accident.
Information disseminated by WBTV indicated that Marrero's family had been notified of the tragedy. There has been no comment, on whether any interruptions to train services occurred following the incident.
