Anne Arundel County, Maryland, has witnessed the apprehension of Kenneth J. Schneider, 34, of Chestnut Hill Cove, by the Maryland State Police on multiple child pornography charges including solicitation and distribution, after a targeted investigation by the Maryland State Police Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force, as reported by Maryland State Police.
The investigation, initially triggered in June by Homeland Security Investigations following a report of a minor attempting suicide due to sexual extortion, culminated in Schneider's arrest on Aug. 9 at his residence where a search warrant was executed by the Maryland State Police Computer Crimes Unit, Homeland Security Investigations, and Anne Arundel County Police, Schneider now faces serious charges including felony counts for promoting/distributing child pornography and a misdemeanor for displaying obscene material to a minor, he is currently being held without bond at the Anne Arundel County Detention Center.
This extensive operation is collaboratively spearheaded by the Maryland Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force, a conglomerate of various police departments within Maryland, funded both by the Governor's Office for Crime Prevention and Policy and a federal grant from the U.S. Department of Justice.
