
Residents in Chicago are bracing for a mix of weather patterns over the next few days as forecasts predict an array of conditions from mostly sunny skies to potential hazardous thunderstorms. According to the National Weather Service, today's weather in Chicago will be mostly sunny with a high near 82 degrees, accompanied by an east breeze of 5 to 10 mph.
The calm, however, may be short-lived with the onset of nightly thunderstorms—a 20 percent chance after 4 a.m., when the tranquility of partly cloudy skies with lows around 73, is expected to give way to scattered thunderstorms capable of damaging winds up to 60 mph and quarter-size hail as per the Hazardous Weather Outlook released by the National Weather Service.
Heading into Friday and over the weekend, the chance of showers and thunderstorms increases to 50 percent, mainly post 7 a.m., with a high near 88 degrees and possible wind gusts of 15 mph there is also a limited flooding risk noted for Friday, on the heels of these stormy conditions sunny skies return to prevail on both Saturday and Sunday.

For beachgoers and those planning to take to Lake Michigan, caution is advised as the National Weather Service warns of a "High Swim Risk" for Lake Michigan beaches starting Sunday into Labor Day; hazardous conditions for small craft are also likely, making it imperative for holiday revelers to heed these advisories and plan accordingly, "dangerous swimming conditions are expected Sunday into Labor Day at Lake Michigan beaches," according to a statement from the National Weather Service Chicago.
As the holiday approaches, Monday and Tuesday are slated to offer respite with sunny conditions and highs near 72 and 75 degrees, respectively, followed by another sunny day on Wednesday, with a peak temperature near 78, offering citizens a gentle reprieve after the tumult of nature's seeming indecisiveness.
