Two Cleveland men have been found guilty of a heinous act, the murder of a 29-year-old woman, Alyson Appling-France, as her children witnessed the tragedy. Jamar Skanes, 50, and Alontez Beasley, 35, now face the weight of the law for their actions back in January. According to a Cleveland.com report, the Cuyahoga County Prosecutor's Office outlined the verdict, which included charges of aggravated murder, two counts of murder, and conspiracy to commit murder.
Providing further insight, Prosecutor Michael O’Malley was quoted as saying, “Alontez Beasley and Jamar Skanes brutally assassinated Alyson Appling-France in front of her two young children. Today, they were held accountable,” indicating the gravity of the crime. As noted by Cleveland19, there remains a third suspect, Clarence Bennett, who is still at large, with O'Malley urging anyone with knowledge of his whereabouts to contact authorities.
The terrible event took place after an eight-hour surveillance of Apping-France by the perpetrators, detailed in the prosecutors' narrative. Skanes, Beasley, and Bennett followed Appling-France to her apartment complex after her trip to Target. Her return became the setting for the crime as she started to unload groceries from her vehicle with her children, ages 6 and 10, by her side. Tragically, she was shot 17 times. The WKYC reported that despite being rapidly transported to a hospital, she did not survive her wounds.
