The Cobb County Board of Elections and Registration (BOER) has green-lit the advance voting calendar for the upcoming November general election, setting the stage for voters to hit the polls as early as October 15. According to the official county announcement, locals will have until November 1 to cast their ballots across 12 different sites within Cobb.
Notably included in this schedule October 20 and 27, when select locations will open their doors for voters. From Monday to Friday, however, all locations will operate from the early hours of 7 a.m. through to 7 p.m., offering ample time for the electorate to participate. A full list of the advance voting locations is available for download from the county's website.
In addition, the BOER has laid out the special election dates for Cobb Board of Commissioners Districts 2 and 4, this following a judicial mandate earlier this year, which called for a redo due to contested district maps and candidate qualifications. The BOER's schedule has a contingency plan for a potential runoff scenario in the November general election, which includes modified dates for qualifying sessions and primary, runoff, and general elections.
Ahead of the special election, qualifying dates are slated for December 18 to 20, pending no runoff is needed come November. Should a runoff be called for, those dates shift to January 27 to 29. The primary would then be set for February 11, with a runoff on March 11, and the general election concluding on April 29. In contrast, should the runoff scenario come to fruition, the primary would be moved to March 18, the runoff to April 15, and the general to June 17. As always, advance in-person voting dates will be communicated to the public.
Amidst the election prep, Cobb County officials have initiated legal action requesting the judge to allow county intervention and reconsider the earlier ruling regarding the district disputes. As of now, the judge has yet to respond to these motions. Details on this development and a comprehensive schedule of all electoral dates can be found at the Cobb County website.
