Beachgoers and their furry friends will have to find an alternative spot to cool off, as Wright County Parks & Recreation has shut down the swimming and dog beaches at Collinwood Regional Park and Campground. The culprit behind the closure is an uptick in algae levels in Collinwood Lake. According to a statement on the county's official website, the parks department is monitoring the situation and will alert the public when the waters are deemed safe for return.
While frequent visitors might be disappointed, the closure is a preventative measure to protect public health. "We apologize for any inconvenience that may cause visitors," said the department, as per Wright County Minnesota.
Visitors planning to make the trip down should stay informed by checking the latest on the county’s website or social media. Engaged in keeping the public informed, the department stated, "We will provide notification on the county website and social media platforms when the beach is re-opened."
