
Early on Tuesday morning, a retail store in the 5600 block of Alkire Rd. It became the theft scene when a suspect, after creating a diversion, made away with several cartons of cigarettes. According to Columbus Police, the incident occurred around 7:20 a.m., beginning with the suspect shattering a glass bottle inside the store.
The clerk, distracted by the need to handle the broken glass, allowed the suspect to slip into the storage room undetected and commit the theft. After securing multiple cartons of cigarettes, the suspect made a swift exit, escaping the vicinity in a white car. This information was detailed in a police statement made available to the public regarding the burglary.
