Tragedy struck a Columbus neighborhood as police uncovered the distressing scene of a murder-suicide. The incident, solely leaving behind two children unable to access their home, ended with both parents deceased. According to a statement obtained by the Columbus Division of Police, the victims were identified as Ms. Sowmya Balasubramanian and Mr. Balasubramanian Kathavarayan, with the confirmation coming after officers were dispatched to the 2600 block of Lauffer Ravines Drive on Tuesday.
The children, returning home, were confronted with the inexplicable reality that their residence was now a crime scene, expressed by the inability to enter their apartment. The officers who arrived to assess their well-being were the ones to uncover the grim discovery. Both adults were found with apparent gunshot wounds and pronounced deceased on the scene by CFD EMS 13 personnel, as noted in the official media release.
