The search for David Lamar Brown, the 69-year-old man who went missing on Tuesday in Hernando County, continues with law enforcement and community efforts. Brown is considered endangered and may be at risk of self-harm, according to the Hernando County Sheriff’s Office. A volunteer search initiative is taking place with a meetup scheduled at Community Bible Church, at 5041 Griffin Road in Brooksville. As reported by WFLA, volunteers will receive maps and specific instructions starting at 7:30 a.m. on Sunday.
Described as a white male with grey hair and goatee of a thin build, Brown was last wearing a white shirt with horizontal blue stripes and blue shorts. It has been noted that he had no shoes and possibly one sock on—detected through surveillance footage. The Pasco Sheriff’s Office, Sumter County Sheriff’s Office, and the FWC have contributed to the search with drones, K-9 units, and ground search teams, as released by the Hernando County Sheriff's Office Facebook page.
Officers and volunteers alike are urged to stay within public right-of-ways during the search efforts. Anyone with information or who has witnessed suspicious activity is encouraged to contact the Sheriff's Office at 352-754-6830. "Personnel from the Pasco Sheriff’s Office, Sumter County Sheriff’s Office, and the FWC will assist in the search, utilizing drones, K-9s and ground searches," the Hernando County Sheriff's Office has stated, reported by WFLA.
Volunteers and law enforcement are working together, hoping for a positive outcome, as reported by ABC Action News. Those joining Sunday's search are reminded to follow guidelines and respect private properties.
