Boulder County is working jointly with the Colorado Department of Transportation, the Regional Transportation District, and the cities of Boulder and Longmont to roll out improvements that promise a safer, swifter, and more dependable journey along the CO 119 corridor. An open house for the upcoming CO 119 Bikeway 63rd St. Overpass is scheduled for Tuesday, Sept. 10, aiming to engage the community and solicit feedback on the plans.
The event will be hosted at Provisions Restaurant at the Hampton Inn, located at 6315 Lookout Rd., Boulder, CO 80301, and will run from 5 to 6:30 p.m. Staff will be present to answer questions and discuss the details of the project, as stated by Boulder County. No large presentation will be given, and Spanish interpretation can be arranged upon request.
In addition to the overpass information, attendees will learn about the CO 119 Branding & Wayfinding Project, which is set to create a unique brand for the upcoming Bus Rapid Transit route that will connect Boulder and Longmont. The brand concept will be applied to wayfinding signs and BRT stations along the CO 119 corridor. Information about this and other elements of the project can be obtained from the Commuting Solutions CO 119 Branding & Wayfinding Project website.
Another highlight of the open house is the introduction of the Gunbarrel Shuttle project. Spearheaded by Transportation Connections, the Gunbarrel Shuttle will offer a flexible, on-demand transit service, aiming to connect over 9,800 employees and 11,500 residents in the Gunbarrel area. The service, resulting from a partnership between Boulder County, RTD, the City of Boulder, and the Boulder Chamber Transportation Connections, is anticipated to launch in early 2025, as reported by Boulder County.
The CO 119 Safety, Mobility, and Bikeway Project, which encompasses these endeavors, is designed to complement other multimodal initiatives across the corridor ensuring comprehensive and secure travel. With funding already secured, this project expects to break ground in fall 2024. For additional details or to sign up for project updates, interested parties can contact the stated email or visit the project website detailed in the announcement by Boulder County.
