A New Hampshire substitute teacher has been taken into custody on charges of possessing child sex abuse images. Jonathan Harrison, a 31-year-old resident of Concord, turned himself over to law enforcement earlier this week and is now facing three counts tied to these allegations.

Concord police, alongside the New Hampshire Crimes Against Children Task Force, executed a search warrant at the suspect's residence on July 30, 2024, which ultimately led to the issuance of an arrest warrant. In the course of their investigation, initiated by a report from a messaging app in February concerning the potential sharing of abhorrent images, authorities traced an IP address back to Harrison's home. This was reported by WMUR.

The investigation further unraveled when Harrison, found working as a camp counselor in Maine, was approached and interviewed by law enforcement. Concord Deputy Chief John Thomas made a poignant remark to WMUR, noting, "It's not like the old days. We had hard images." He also added, "This is all data that's gone through the computers. And because of the way the technology is, it just makes it so much easier for these crimes to take place."

Meanwhile, Bedford School Superintendent Michael Fournier, in an effort to address parental concerns, shared that the district has positioned Harrison on unpaid leave and confirmed he will not be returning to the school. "Although Mr. Harrison was not actively working for the Bedford School District during the summer, we nonetheless placed him on unpaid leave pending the outcome of the investigation," Fournier wrote in his letter to parents, according to NBC Boston. There appears to be no evidence suggesting that any Bedford students were featured in the images Harrison is alleged to have possessed.

While the investigation continues, authorities and the school district are urging parents to maintain vigilance over their children's internet activities to prevent any exposure to such dangers. Concord police are still seeking information related to the case and encourage anyone with relevant knowledge to come forward.
