Almost a decade after the tragic death of Diego Lopez from illegal silicone injections, an arrest has finally been made. Citrus Heights Police Department confirmed that yesterday afternoon, their detectives apprehended 49-year-old Alejandra Aguilera-Ortega. The case dates back to 2013, when Lopez passed away due to complications related to the procedures administered by Aguilera-Ortega, who was at the time operating without a license.
According to the Citrus Heights Police Department's social media announcement, the initial investigation uncovered Aguilera-Ortega's involvement but had failed to immediately secure an arrest as the suspect had fled to Mexico. After Aguilera-Ortega's return to Citrus Heights, detectives quickly moved to locate and to arrest her without incident at a local apartment complex. Charged with homicide, Aguilera-Ortega faces grave consequences for the injections that led to Lopez's untimely death.
