DeKalb County is paving the way for its residents to ensure their voice is heard in the upcoming General Election. With advance voting kicking off in mid-October, DeKalb Voter Registration and Elections (DeKalb VRE) is emphasizing the importance of voters checking their registration status and being diligent in their voting preparations.
According to a recent announcement on the DeKalb County's website, eligible voters who have not yet registered can do so online by visiting the Georgia Secretary of State's website. The deadline for voter registration is set for October 7. DeKalb VRE also encourages voters to confirm whether they are listed as "active" on the voter rolls and to rectify their status if necessary, making this a critical step ahead of casting their vote.
"Registering to vote and verifying your voter status are simple and easy steps, but it’s important to double check to ensure a smooth voting experience on Election Day," Keisha Smith, executive director of DeKalb VRE, said in a statement obtained by the DeKalb County press release. She adds a reminder that "an inactive status does not prohibit voters from casting a ballot" but stresses the value of being proactive in election readiness.
DeKalb County’s planning for the election is meticulous, with advance voting scheduled from October 15 to November 1, open weekdays from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. Additionally, to accommodate various schedules, Saturday and Sunday voting are available on select dates. For those opting for the absentee ballot route, the county will provide drop boxes at select advance voting locations. The specific locations and hours are to be announced, which voters can find a updates on the county's election website.
