Delta Air Lines is bringing a new nonstop service to travelers in Texas and Massachusetts. According to an announcement on the City of San Antonio’s official website, starting November 11, the airline will offer daily flights directly connecting San Antonio International Airport (SAT) with Boston Logan International Airport (BOS). This service aims to simplify travel for individuals and help meet the growing demand between these two cities.
With departures set to leave BOS at 9:15 a.m. and SAT at 2 p.m., the schedule seems to conveniently cater to those looking to make the most of their business day in either city. Mayor Ron Nirenberg highlighted the significance of this new route for the community, noting in a statement obtained by the City of San Antonio, "Delta’s timely decision to serve this route demonstrates the strong demand between San Antonio and Boston and that it warrants nonstop service on a legacy carrier."
Sustaining growth at SAT seems to be Delta Air Lines’ strategy with the addition of Boston marking their seventh direct route from San Antonio. The airline's performance at SAT is not to be taken lightly; as Jesus Saenz, Director of Airports, City of San Antonio Aviation Department, pointed out, “Delta’s performance at SAT has been significant. The airline has seen a staggering 20% increase in total departing seats compared to pre-pandemic and Boston is their seventh destination from San Antonio. We’re excited to see Delta continue to grow in San Antonio and look forward to continuing our strong partnership.” This new connection is expected to further fortify their presence and strengthen ties with the city's thriving industries. The service will commence on a date to be celebrated for the strong partnership between the airline and San Antonio’s Aviation Department
The new Boston-San Antonio route fills a void in nonstop services between these two cities and is also a strategic move for Delta to bolster its coverage of the top 50 markets from its Boston hub. "The addition of Boston-San Antonio to the Delta network will provide the only nonstop access for consumers between these two cities starting in November. Moreover, this service will increase Delta’s coverage of top 50 markets from our Boston hub and will help build upon Delta’s #1 position there," stated Delta Air Lines.
With other destinations that include Atlanta, Detroit, Los Angeles, Minneapolis-St., Paul, New York-JFK, and Salt Lake City from SAT, Delta continues to weave a web of routes that supports the transit needs of modern travels.
