A tragic mishap unfolded in Dickinson yesterday when an individual was found deceased in a vehicle that had collided with stationary cars on Timber Drive near Deats Road post 3:15 p.m. The Dickinson police conveyed to ABC13 that shots were fired moments before said the accident took place.
Upon their arrival at the scene, officers discovered an unresponsive person in the car, who was subsequently pronounced dead. While the precise cause of death remained a question at the time — whether from gunfire or the ensuing crash — residents had claimed to hear several gunshots before witnessing the vehicle's abrupt impact. As of the latest information, no arrests have been made, authorities are still piecing together the grisly sequence of events.
Additional details emerged as witnesses reported seeing three individuals fleeing post-collision. The vehicle, a blue Ford crossover, had been navigating east on Greenlee Street before the fatal shooting happened, initiating its uncontrolled swerve into the parked vehicles on Timber Drive, according to FOX26 Houston. At least two bullet holes peppered the car's windshield.
The identity of the deceased man was confirmed later however, his name has yet to be released to the public as notification of his family remains pending. It is believed by the authorities, that he was not a local resident of the neighborhood where the crime occurred. As for the individuals who were seen absconding from the scene, they remain unidentified, as the investigation presses on. In the wake of the tragedy, the area around Greenlee Street was cordoned off as part of the ongoing police scrutiny, with the Galveston County Medical Examiner also present to execute their somber duties at the scene.
