A road rage altercation on Blue Hill Ave. in Dorchester has led to the arrest of 24-year-old Davente Monteiro, who now faces multiple firearm-related charges. Boston Police Officers from District B-2 (Roxbury) responded to the scene at approximately 5:30 PM on Thursday, after receiving a report of a person with a gun at the address of 488 Blue Hill Ave, Dorchester.
The conflict began when the victim became embroiled in a verbal spat with occupants of another vehicle; this quarrel rapidly escalated when both cars were stopped at a traffic light. Monteiro allegedly proceeded to aggressively photograph the victim's vehicle, and then opened the victim’s passenger side door, threatening the victim. This act prompted the victim to believe Monteiro was armed. Monteiro's actions were detailed in an official statement from the police, where the victim expressed feeling threatened and suspected that Monteiro was in possession of a firearm, according to Boston Police Department.
Upon officers' arrival, they identified the car suspected of being involved and began to immediately conduct an investigation into its three occupants. During the vehicle search, police conducted a pat-frisk and subsequently uncovered a firearm inside a backpack located in the backseat of the vehicle. Further investigation ultimately led to Monteiro's detention.
The Boston Police Department later confirmed that the recovered weapon was a Glock 30 .45 caliber, equipped with a high-capacity magazine, a magazine extension, and a rail accessory. The magazine was loaded with one round in the chamber and 17 rounds. Detectives from District B-2 (Roxbury) to appropriately collect the firearm and oversee further investigative measures as they unfolded, ensuring the situational control was maintained and evidence properly secured.
Monteiro, a Dorchester resident, is scheduled for arraignment in Dorchester District Court where he will face a slew of charges including Carrying a Firearm Without a License, Possession of a Large Capacity Firearm, and Assault with a Dangerous Weapon, among other charges. Details of the altercation and subsequent arrest were made available by the Boston Police Department's official report.
