Earlier this morning, emergency responders were called to the scene of a single-vehicle rollover collision on West Liberty Avenue near Cape May Avenue. According to a report by Pittsburgh Public Safety, the incident involved a car that struck several utility poles, resulting in live wires scattered across the road.
The driver of the vehicle, an adult female, managed to get out of the car by herself, having suffered only very minor injuries. Even though live wires were down, the adult female driver was evaluated by EMS at the scene but she did not require hospitalization. The crash, which occurred at approximately 4 a.m., forced a closure of West Liberty Avenue in both directions for several hours while the area was secured and cleared.
The road has been littered with numerous downed wires, creating a hazardous situation for both the public and the cleanup crews. By midday, the roadway was reopened, and traffic resumed its normal flow.
There has been no word on what caused the vehicle to roll over and contact with the utility poles has been made by investigators.
