Duluth residents are being called upon to engage in the shaping of their community infrastructure. A public meeting has been scheduled by the City of Duluth to discuss the upcoming reconditioning project for Junction Avenue and Saint Marie Street. The session is intended to offer a comprehensive understanding of the project details, including its goals, design proposals, timelines, and expected impacts during construction, according to a recent announcement on the city's official Facebook page.
The specifics of the project entail the milling and overlay of the roadway, swapping out of battered sidewalks and curbs, as well as widening sidewalks along popular pedestrian pathways. The project also includes building out bump-outs for improved pedestrian safety and devising upgraded intersection curb ramps for ADA compliance, as per the City of Duluth, MN Government. Last on the agenda, yet equally important, is the reconstruction of road segments that are suffering subgrade failures.
The public meeting is set for August 20, from 5:30 pm to 7:00 pm at Chester Park Commons, Room 105, located at 31 W College Street, as detailed by the City of Duluth, MN Government. Those who drive can find parking at the Maroon Lot R2 on 10 W Clover Street. A detailed presentation by the design team is scheduled to begin at 5:30 pm. However, residents have the flexibility to drop by anytime within the meeting hours
