Drivers in Duluth, brace yourselves for some traffic shifts starting tomorrow. The Third Street Reconditioning Project, which has already seen its share of work, is entering a new phase. On August 26, as reported by the City of Duluth, motorists will find the left lane of Third Street closed off from 12th Avenue E to Mesaba Avenue.
With crews busy with final utility work, traffic will be funneled into the remaining right lane. Consequently, parking will be off-limits within the construction boundaries, a necessary move given the narrowed path for vehicles. According to details shared on the City's Facebook page, reopened avenues might be closed again if needed for safety during the work across the intersections.
Not just rolling through, but fully sticking the landing, the reconditioning project aims to wrap up by the end of September. Meanwhile, as the lower side sees the completion of its makeover, the upper side will soon get its turn under the construction spotlight. Drivers should stay alert for the upcoming switch in traffic patterns.
