In East Boston, a police action spurred by community complaints has led to two arrests on drug-related charges. The Boston Police Department's Drug Control Unit of District A-7 apprehended Danielle Brabent, a 40-year-old Saugus resident, and Edwin Vasquez, a 36-year-old Chelsea resident, on the evening of August 27th.
Patrolling near 178 Border Street, officers observed suspicious behavior in a man who appeared to be engaged in a drug transaction after entering and quickly exiting a vehicle. Upon stopping the individual identified as Edwin Vasquez, they found crack cocaine in his pocket, "Officers advised the suspect that he would be summonsed to court for Possession of Class B," according to the Boston Police Department.
The operation continued as officers stopped the vehicle in question at 375 Border Street, where they detained and handcuffed both occupants of the car. Following an investigation, police discovered additional drugs and paraphernalia. "Officers recovered eighteen plastic bags of crack cocaine and $734 in US currency from Vasquez," the Boston Police Department indicates. Brabent, who was also in the vehicle, was found with three plastic bags of crack cocaine, forty-one various prescription pills, and multiple plastic bags for drug packaging.
The two individuals face serious charges, including drug possession and distribution, with Brabent also charged with possession of another drug class. The suspects will appear in East Boston District Court.
