An Edgewater community finds itself at the intersection of tragedy and mystery following a deadly altercation. The Anne Arundel County Police Department reported a stabbing incident that occurred on August 9, leaving one woman dead and a man critically injured. First responders were dispatched to an apartment on the unit block of South River S at approximately 5 p.m., after receiving a report of the violent encounter.

The officers discovered 47-year-old Nancianne S Houston of Edgewater, pronounced deceased at the scene, and a 58-year-old man suffering from serious stab wounds. Despite the medical aid provided, the rescue was partial; the woman succumbed to her injuries while her acquaintance, the male, was hurried to the University of Maryland R Adams Cowley Shock Trauma Center facing life-threatening injuries.
Detectives from the Homicide unit immediately took the helm of the investigation, revealing that the two individuals were known to each other and allegedly became involved in some disagreement which escalated to violence. As for now, the police have kept further details close to the chest as they piece together the moments leading to the stabbings.
