An elderly homeless woman was left in critical condition early this morning after a sedan struck her on the Northwest Side of San Antonio. The incident occurred near the crossing of Vance Jackson Road and De Zavala Road around 3:30 a.m., as reported by News 4 San Antonio. Police have stated that the woman was attempting to cross the street with a shopping cart when the accident happened.
According to KENS 5, the driver, who has not been named, was on his way to a corner store for snacks when he hit the woman. He reported not seeing her in time to avoid the collision. Subsequently, the victim was transported to University Hospital in what authorities described as a critical condition.
As the police investigation continues, officials have yet to press any charges against the driver, who did stop to render aid and called for help. The condition of the woman remains precarious, and her identity has not been publicly released. Local authorities are urging anyone who might have witnessed the accident or who have information to come forward.
