An elderly male from Northfield was found dead in the Kelly/Dudley lakes area on the morning of August 13th, an apparent victim of drowning, Rice County authorities reported. According to Rice County Minnesota, deputies responded to a call at around 9:03 a.m. regarding a suspicious motorcycle at the public access site, located at 5285 Kelly Lake Trail.

The motorcycle was thought to belong to an elderly man known to snorkel in the area, and when deputies arrived, they located what appeared, to be a body roughly 100 yards east of the dock, as per Rice County Minnesota. Rice County deputies, along with the Rice County Dive Team, confirmed the presence of the unresponsive man face down in the water. It seemed the man had been deceased for some time before being discovered.

The incident is currently not being treated as suspicious, and the name of the victim has not been released pending further investigation. The case is being handled by the Rice County Sheriff's Office, with Sgt. Ross Spicer serves as the point of contact.
