As firefighters worked diligently to control the scene, fire officials requested a CTA bus to shelter those suddenly found to be displaced from the members-only establishment. ComEd was called to respond to the resulting local power outage, with the utility company reporting that they had de-energized the vault and were working to safely restore electricity to the area. As reported by NBC Chicago, as many as 39 customers were affected by the outage.
