
A tragic accident took place on U.S. 95 northwest of Las Vegas early Monday morning, resulting in the death of a driver. A silver 2020 Toyota Camry, for reasons still under investigation, veered off the highway and encountered a fatal end. According to Nevada State Police, Highway Patrol's news release obtained by News 3 LV, the incident was reported around 6:43 a.m. at mile marker 107, just 16 miles outside the Las Vegas city limits.
The driver, whose identity has not yet been publicly disclosed, was heading northbound when suddenly and for purposes unknown, the vehicle shifted off the right side of the road. In the aftermath, Trooper Shawn Haggstrom detailed in a statement, "The Toyota went onto the shoulder, hit a paddle market and continued into the desert, where it struck a culvert." As reported by News 3 LV, the driver was promptly transported to a nearby hospital but was subsequently pronounced dead.
The nature of the mishap is still being pieced together by authorities. The Nevada Highway Patrol shared further insights about the crash's sequence in a report, noting that the Camry "The car then went airborne, landed back on its wheels and rotated clockwise before stopping in a desert area," as stated by Las Vegas Review-Journal. The ongoing investigation is being conducted by the Highway Patrol-Traffic Homicide Unit, tasked to thoroughly delve into the complex web of factors surrounding the accident. "The crash is still under investigation by the Highway Patrol-Traffic Homicide Unit." Trooper Haggstrom is committed to thoroughly investigating the vehicle's erratic departure from the roadway.
The aftermath sees the Clark County Coroner's Office yet to release the driver's identity, alongside the medical determination of cause and manner of death.
