An intersection in Las Vegas became the site of a tragic traffic accident that climaxed with a fatality. The incident, which involved a 2012 Chevrolet Malibu and a 2016 Land Rover Range Rover, occurred on July 26, at around 7:53 p.m., at the junction of N. Rampart Boulevard and Del Webb Boulevard.

According to the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department, the Malibu was moving north and attempted to make a left turn under a flashing yellow signal, which was believed to have been crossing into the path of the southbound Range Rover. The latter was moving through a green light, leading to a collision that ultimately sent the Range Rover off-road and caused it to overturn.

On August 20, investigators were informed by a representative of the Clark County Office of the Coroner/Medical Examiner that the driver of the Malibu succumbed to her injuries in the early hours of the morning. The 80-year-old Las Vegas woman's death was noted as the 94th traffic-related fatality within the jurisdiction this year. The LVMPD’s Collision Investigation Section is still scrutinizing the details of the crash.

The collision also left others injured, including the driver of the Range Rover, a 16-year-old male, and two 17-year-old female passengers, who all sustained minor injuries. After the collision, arriving medical personnel had promptly transported the unrestrained Malibu driver and one of the Range Rover passengers to the University Medical Center’s Trauma Unit.
