Tragedy struck early Tuesday morning when a head-on crash in Apple Valley resulted in one fatality and left two others with major injuries, as reported by the San Bernardino County Sheriff-Coroner Department. At approximately 6:43 A.M., on the stretch of Bear Valley Road east of Quinnault Road, a silver Toyota Camry collided with a silver Hyundai Santa Fe after veering into oncoming traffic.

According to the San Bernardino County Sheriff-Coroner Department, the driver of the Camry was pronounced dead at the scene, while the occupants of the Hyundai were airlifted to a trauma hospital for treatment of their injuries. Drugs or alcohol were not considered contributing factors in this devastating incident.

Following the collision, Bear Valley Road was closed for approximately five hours between Navajo Road and Central Road, as the Major Accident Investigation Team of the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department, also referred to as M.A.I.T., conducted a thorough examination of the scene to gather evidence pertinent to understanding the sequence of events that led to the fatal crash.

The Sheriff’s Department is asking for anyone with information about the incident to step forward and help piece together the circumstances of the crash. They are encouraged to contact Deputy J. Rodgers at the Apple Valley Sheriff’s Station or Sheriff’s Dispatch, while those wishing anonymity may reach out to the We-Tip Hotline or submit their information through the We-Tip website, reinforcing the community's integral role in aiding law enforcement during such investigations.
