
In the early hours yesterday, tragedy struck on Buford Highway when a pedestrian was killed in a hit-and-run incident. FOX 5 Atlanta reports that local authorities from Brookhaven Police Department arrived at the scene near 3400 Buford Highway around 3 a.m. after receiving reports of a man in the roadway. Upon arrival, officers discovered a man in the northbound lane near Briarwood Road NE, the apparent victim of a vehicle collision.
The incident did not yield a suspect as the driver failed to remain at the scene. As the investigation continues into the circumstances of the fatality, police have yet to release details about the victim or the vehicle involved. The absence of a witness or suspect leaves a void.
Concurrently, 11Alive provided a brief account detailing that the calls reporting a man lying in the road prompted police response. It's confirmed that the Brookhaven Police are treating this as a fatal hit and run.
