
Tragedy struck on a sunbathed Las Vegas intersection late Sunday afternoon when a fatal traffic collision claimed the life of a man and left another driver arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence. The Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department reported that the incident occurred at the intersection of West Desert Inn Road and South Lindell Road at approximately 4:15 PM, on August 4.
According to the official statement by the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department, a 1992 Geo Metro was traveling southbound on Lindell Road, with a solid green traffic signal, when it was hit by a 2021 Toyota Rav 4 moving westbound on Desert Inn Road. The driver of the Toyota allegedly ran through a red light, and the resulting impact led to significant injuries for the Geo Metro's driver and minor injuries for the Toyota driver, Nakira Pray, 27, of Las Vegas.
First responders transported the injured man, whose identity has yet to be publicly released, to UMC Trauma, where despite intensive medical efforts, he was pronounced dead. This incident adds to a grim tally, marking it as the 91st traffic-related fatality within the jurisdiction of the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department for the year.
Pray, the survivor of the crash, was found displaying signs of impairment and was subsequently arrested at the scene, the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department confirmed. The collision remains under close examination by the police department's Collision Investigation Section in an ongoing effort to understand the full circumstances of the incident.
