
Early in the morning, Pittsburgh's Homewood North neighborhood was disrupted by a fatal shooting. According to a release from the Pittsburgh Public Safety Department, police responded to a ShotSpotter notification of gunfire around 3:30 a.m. on the 7400 block of Idlewild Street.
Upon arrival, officers discovered an adult male on the sidewalk, tragically lifeless beside a vehicle with a wound to his head. Attempts to quickly render aid could not be made in time—the victim was pronounced dead at the scene by the medics.
The Mobile Crime Unit was subsequently called in to meticulously gather and process evidence at the scene. As part of their routine, detectives are meticulously combing through video footage from the surrounding area in hopes of piecing together the circumstances that precipitated this fatal encounter.
