A deadly incident rocked the I-15 freeway near Spring Mountain Road late Thursday night when one person was fatally shot, leading to a road closure that lasted several hours. According to News 3 LV, the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department responded to a call around 8:30 p.m. and found a gray SUV with the driver suffering from gunshot wounds on the southbound side of the freeway, just north of Flamingo Road.
The Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department statement disclosed that the male victim was quickly transported to UMC, where he was pronounced dead. The ongoing investigation for now has yet to publicly reveal any suspects or motive, maintaining an air of uncertainty around this violent episode. Southbound lanes between Spring Mountain and Flamingo Roads were forced to shut down in the wake of the shooting, only to be reopened at approximately 4:11 a.m. Friday morning, as stated by authorities.
The consequences of the shooting were not only lethal but also disruptive, causing significant delays and rerouting on one of the city's most frequented thoroughfares. FOX5 Vegas reported that the victim's vehicle had crashed into the center median of the freeway following the shooting, an event that precipitated the overnight closing of the lanes.
