
In a tragic turn of events early Tuesday morning, a train incident resulted in at least one fatality on the Monaca-Beaver Bridge spanning the Ohio River. First responders from various emergency services including police, fire, and medical units were dispatched to the scene, scouring both the bridge and adjacent river, although it remains unclear whether they were in search of additional victims, as reported by CBS News Pittsburgh.
"At approximately 12:33 am this morning, a CSX train came into contact with an individual trespassing on the railroad tracks near the east end of the railroad bridge over the Ohio River near Atlantic Avenue and Fourth Street in Monaca, PA. Unfortunately the individual was fatally injured as a result of the incident," the CSX spokesperson stated, as per WTAE, underscoring the tragic results of such occurrences, CSX also extended appreciation for the swift response of the Beaver County first responders.
The identity of the deceased has not been made public at this point, and Monaca Police have taken the lead on the ensuing investigation to piece together the events of that night.
