ABC13 reports that two intruders entered the family residence and fatally shot a father in front of his wife and two children. The incident took place at around 8:35 p.m. in the 8000 block of Rippling Stream Drive. The suspects responsible for this incident are still at large.
Upon arrival shortly before 9:15 p.m., Fort Bend County Sheriff's deputies discovered a 39-year-old man deceased within the home, the Click2Houston reported. While there were other family members present at the time of the crime, including his wife and two children, no additional injuries have been disclosed. The circumstances surrounding the incident remain somewhat unclear, and investigators are working to ascertain whether any suspects have been taken into custody.
The Fort Bend County authorities are treating this shooting as targeted, suggesting a chilling specificity in the violence that unfolded within what should have been a sanctuary for a family. It was conveyed by deputies to ABC13's Courtney Fischer that the terrifying ordeal was witnessed in its entirety by the remaining family members, one of whom called 911 to report the attack.
"Someone came in and shot the stepdad. Looking at camera footage now. I'm trying to find a vehicle," were the words overheard on the deputies' radio traffic.
