Gainesville residents have one more chance to savor the culinary delights of Food Truck Friday, as the season's final event is scheduled for August 16 at Lake Lanier Olympic Park. This popular gathering, which has become a hallmark of the community’s warm weather festivities, is gearing up to close out its latest series with a diverse array of food and drink trucks, live music, and family-friendly activities.
The City of Gainesville-sponsored event will kick off at 5 p.m. and feature an eclectic mix of vendors. "Food Truck Friday is our most anticipated spring and summer series at Lake Lanier Olympic Park," Tourism Director Robyn Lynch told Gainesville.org. Attendees can look forward to offerings ranging from Tap It Growlers' beer and wine, to Make My Plate!'s wings and loaded fries, and Yummy Sweets' dessert options among others. In compliance to a statement obtained by Gainesville.org, the lineup promises to cater to a variety of palates.
Aside from the feast, the event also serves a charitable purpose. The organizers encourage participants to bring donations for The Hub, a local student success center offering a wide range of services from workforce planning to mental health support. Interested donors can find a list of needed items on the Hub's website, with the simple option of bringing contributions to the event. More details can be grabbed from the series' webpage, linked in the announcement from Gainesville.org.
The concluding Food Truck Friday of the season will be about getting the attendees to sway to the sounds of Ivan Duke and Friends. Duke, whose resume boasts collaborations with notable figures such as Lynyrd Skynyrd’s drummer Bob Burns and Grand Ole Opry member Mark Wills is slated to perform from 5:30-8:45 p.m. For those curious about the artist's background, his website details his extensive experience in the music industry. Visiting tables from local organizations such as the Hall County Library System and the Lanier Canoe & Kayak Club, will also be an option for those looking to engage with the Gainesville-Hall County community.
Parking for the event is available at New Horizons Lanier Park, with a shuttle service that will ferry guests back and forth from the venue—keep in mind that only service animals are permitted on the shuttles, though. To stay updated on this event, the Lakeland Lanier Olympic Venue's Facebook page and the official website are the go-to resources for the community.
